Kolisis
General Director
Fragiskos Kolisis is an honorary Professor of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has been a Professor of Biotechnology in the Chemical School of NTUA. From 2005 to 2010 he was the director of the Institute of Biological Research & Biotechnology (NHRF) and under his management the Institute proclaimed as a centre of Excellence. His expertise lies in (1) the biocatalysis in non-conventional media (2) Production, characterization, immobilization of enzymes and their biotechnological application (3) Metabolic Engineering- Systems and synthetic Biology.

Professor Kolisis has more than 150 publications in international peer reviewed journals with more than 3000 citations. Furthermore, he has been the scientific advisor in 22 PhD students. He has been awarded with more than 6 million euros through National and International Research Programs and has participated in 12 EU projects (BAP, BRIDGE, BIOTECH, AAIR, COST, TMR, FP7/KBBE). He has been a member of the Steering Committee of the European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids, President and General Secretary of the Panhellenic Union of Biotechnology, Director of the Division of Synthesis and Development of Industrial Processes of the School of Chemical Engineering (NTUA), Greek representative in EU for Bioeconomy (KBBE), Member of the European Union Working Group on Synthetic Biology, Official Member of the Technical Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Environment for Biofuels, Member of the Steering Committee of the School of Chemical Engineering of NTUA and National Research Foundation, Member of the Advisory Committee in Synthetic Biology (ERAnet).

Currently, he is a member of the IUPAC’s Biotechnology committee, member of the Steering Committee of the Section of Applied Biocatalysis of the European Federation of Biotechnology, Scientific coordinator of the postgraduate program “Bioeconomy: Biotechnology and Law” at the International Hellenic University, Vice President of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and General Director of the National Infrastructure for Synthetic Biology OMIC-Engine.
