Biotechnology: tackling protein-misfolding diseases

Eugenides Foundation organised a Webcast named “Biotechnology: tackling protein-misfolding diseases”. The invited speaker was George Skretas, one of our Principal Investigators from the National Hellenic Research Foundation.

“What are proteins, and which is their role on our organism? What is the connection between protein structure and function? Which diseases are linked to the misfolding of proteins and how could we develop organisms that will enable the production of pharmaceutical substances? What is the role of Biotechnology in developing such organisms? What are the current methods on detecting protein-misfolding diseases?”

The discussion was coordinated by Maria Ntertili, Biologist of the Eugenides Foundation Centre for Science and Technology.
